We are going to have and assembly on September 30 @ 2:00. Cache Valley Direct will come and talk to our students about the new coupon book that will be sent home with the students on that day.

They will also go over SAFE selling practices as well as the prizes that students can earn by selling coupon books.

Watch for the Cache Valley Direct book on that day and talk to your child about this fantastic fundraiser.

Student Pick-up and Drop-off


The building will open at 7:35 a.m. for breakfast. Students should not arrive before then unless they are participating in scheduled school activities before the start of school (i.e., orchestra or breakfast). The school day begins at 8:05 a.m. and students are dismissed at 2:35 p.m.

Morning kindergarten begins at 8:05 a.m. and students are dismissed at 11:05 a.m. Afternoon kindergarten begins at 11:35 a.m. and students are dismissed at 2:35 p.m. There is no adult supervision on school grounds before or after school. We expect children to go home immediately following dismissal from school. Parents may load and drop off (unload) students along 1400 East between 900 North and 1000 North. Parents may load or unload students on 900 North. There is no loading, unloading and parking in the bus zones on 1000 North. Loading, unloading and parking on the playground and in staff parking areas is also prohibited (see Hillcrest Traffic Safety Map in this document). Parents and guests may park in front of the school on the East side of 1400 North between 900 North and 1000 North as long as they avoid doing so during the following student drop off and pick up times:

  • 7:30 am - 8:05 am (start of school day)

  • 11:05 am - 11:15 am (AM kindergarten pick up)

  • 11:25 am - 11:35 am (PM kindergarten drop off)

  • 2:35 pm - (end of school day)

On half (½) days, students are dismissed at 12:05 pm. There is no school on ½ days for Kindergarten or Pre-school.

Parents and guests may also park east of the school on both sides of 900 North in the designated parking stalls.


Safe walking routes have been established and maps are available identifying the location of crosswalks and sidewalks. Parents have the responsibility to practice walking the safe route with their children. Slow down to 20 MPH or less when driving near the school. Park, load and unload students in designated areas only. See Hillcrest Traffic Safety Map on page 16. Skates, skateboards, scooters, roller blades or roller shoes are discouraged at school. Students should not bring CD players, sports equipment, toys, electronic games, cards or other potential nuisance items to school without teacher authorization. It is against Logan City ordinances for a student to throw snowballs, sticks, rocks, or any other"projectiles". Such behavior may result in a student being suspended from school. (See Safe Schools Policy) Please report lost or stolen bikes directly to the police. A student is allowed to ride a bicycle to school when:

  • A parent has given permission.

  • All riding safety and courtesy rules are known and willingly followed by the rider, (e.g., not riding double).

  • The bicycle is parked and locked in the bike racks.

  • The bicycle is not ridden on school grounds during, just before, and just after school.

  • The rider wears a helmet. Please be sure to label your child's helmet.

Sports or games, that involve excessive physical contact, are not allowed (e.g., tackle football, rugby,"King of Bunkers Hill", etc.).

Students should not climb trees, rails, basketball standards, the school building or other structures not intended for climbing. Students are not automatically covered by accident insurance while attending school. It is the responsibility of parents to provide accident insurance for their children. Information about obtaining student insurance is sent home with students at the first of the year and is also available at the office.

Kindergarten Supplemental Hours of Instruction

Thank you for your interest in the Kindergarten Supplemental Hours of Instruction Program at Hillcrest Elementary. Completing the application and paying the one-time non-refundable processing fee does not guarantee placement in the program. You will be notified of placement in the program, or wait list, on July 4th.

Please note: By July 22nd, the program will need a minimum of 12 students enrolled to offer the kindergarten supplemental hours of instruction program. If we do not meet the 12 students for enrollment we will refund the one-time processing fee.


How do I apply for the program?

Enrollment in the program will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Families will be notified within 2 weeks of their application if they have been placed in the program or on a waiting list.

What is the cost of the Kindergarten Supplemental Instructional Hours Program?

Tuition is $3,200 per student for the school year or $365 per month (for 9 months), August through April. There also is a one-time, non-refundable processing fee of $25. The cost of lunch is not included in the tuition. Tuition helps cover the cost of the additional hours of instruction that are not offered in the half-day, tuition-free program at Hillcrest Elementary. Full tuition or monthly payment for August, can be paid, starting July 22nd. The first payment must be made by August 1st.

What forms of payment are accepted?

If paying for the entire school year, you can pay with a credit card. Monthly tuition payments will be automatically deducted from the credit card information provided with your $25 non-refundable application fee.. Monthly payments will be deducted on the 15th of every month beginning in August and ending in April. If payments falls on a weekend/holiday, payment would be processed the next business day. You can change your method of payment anytime by contacting Logan City School District.

What if my account changes or my credit card expires and I miss a payment?

Failure to make payment, may result in removal of the program. If there are changes to your account or credit card, please notify Logan City School District’s Elementary Education Department immediately to avoid account delinquency. Please call (435) 755-2303 for more information. Monthly payments will be deducted on the 15th of every month beginning in August and ending in April. Any payment after the 21st is delinquent.

Are scholarships available?

Financial-need scholarships are available for students who qualify and will be determined by Hillcrest Elementary.

When will I be notified about my status in the program?

Families who apply during the initial enrollment window will be notified by July 4th if they have been placed in a program or on a waiting list. Families who apply after the initial enrollment window will be notified within 2 weeks of their application if they have been placed in the program or on a waiting list.

My child was offered a spot in the Hillcrest Supplemental Instructional Hours Program. What are my next steps?

If placement is offered during the initial enrollment window, you have until July 22nd to sign the program agreements using the online application and complete your first payment. A link will be emailed to you with payment and agreement instructions. If offered placement after the initial enrollment window, you will have 48 hours to complete the program registration, pay the non-refundable processing fee of $25, and sign the program agreements.

If I do not accept the spot that is offered to me, can I change my mind later?

If you decline placement in the program, your child’s spot will be offered to someone else. If you choose to remain on the waiting list, you may be offered a spot if space becomes available. If you choose not to remain on the waiting list, you can request to be added back to the list.

What if I start the program and then change my mind?

You may withdraw from the program at any time. If you paid in full, you will receive a refund for the remainder of the school year. If the school in which you are receiving Supplemental Instructional Hours is not your boundary school, and you wish to remain enrolled in the school’s traditional half-day kindergarten program, you will need to complete a choice application. Continued enrollment at the school is not guaranteed for out-of-boundary students who withdraw from the program.

Will my student be with a licensed teacher?

Yes, your student will receive supplemental instructional hours from a licensed teacher.

How many supplemental hours of instruction are provided?

Traditional half-day kindergarten programs are approximately two hours and 40 minutes. Students enrolled in the supplemental hours of instruction program will receive nearly four hours of additional instruction. Students enrolled in the supplemental hours of instruction program will begin and end school at the same time as the schools first through fifth grade students. What are the benefits of the Supplemental Hours of Instruction Program?

Students who receive supplemental hours on instruction in kindergarten are more prepared for school. They do better with the transition to first grade, show significant gains in school socialization, and are equipped with stronger learning skills.

Who is eligible for the Supplemental Hours of Instruction Program?

Students who will be 5 years old on or before September 2nd, 2019 are eligible for the program. Students residing within Logan City School District boundaries are given preference. Students who do not live in Logan City School District boundaries but have siblings who have been attending a Logan City School District school are also given preference. Students who do not live in Logan City School District may apply and will be offered available spots after in-boundary students have been admitted.

Why is my neighborhood school not offering Kindergarten Supplemental Hours of Instruction?
