Agenda

  • Welcome (3 minutes)
  • Budget Review (10 minutes)
    • Current year funds will be used quickly in each of the following categories:
      • Sub Costs: $7872.14 (May planning days for teachers)
      • Supplies: $16,740.00 (Additional supplies for new LA curriculum)
      • Instructional Assistants: $9,405.37 (Available funds were added to pay for insurance and additional hours for aides in May)
      • Books: $8,027.07
        • Proposal to amend the budget to take $3,500 from Salaries and add it to Books to pay for decodables for the early grades.
        • Debbie Brough motioned to make the change to add $3,500 to Books
        • Tessa Burton seconded the motion
        • The motion was unanimously approved
  • Revisit Community Council Bylaws (20 minutes)
    • Current bylaws state there needs to be at least 5, no more than 10 parents, and the number of parents shall exceed by 2 the number of school employees on the council.
    • There was a request to confirm with the state the number of voting parents that are allowed to serve on Community Council. Jill will clarify with the state, and send revised bylaws to the committee to review. Next meeting we will vote on procedures for voting, etc for next year.
  • School Changes for next year:
    • K- Lindsey Johnson
    • 1- Madison Newman
    • 2- Becca Maughan
    • 3- New Portuguese teacher
    • 4- New Portuguese teacher
    • 5- Karen Gini and Candie Miller
    • SOS- Krystopher Oyler
    • Newcomers Program- Judy Wright (for the whole district, housed at Hillcrest)
  • Other discussion items
    • Would the council want to continue funding dance if the school board found a way to provide funding for the increase?
    • After more discussion, the council decided to continue with the previously proposed plan and budget.
    • School Board has approved sponsorships for teacher visas for those qualified teachers who would like to stay here in Logan.
