  • The Rules of Order for our committee are located online

Elections

  • Committee Chair: Tessa Burton motioned to nominate Katie Lee-Koven as chair of the committee, Debbie Brough seconded the motion. Voting was unanimous (9 parent votes)
  • Committee Co-Chair: Tessa Burton motioned to nominate Jessica Shumway as co-chair, Debbie Brough seconded the motion. Voting was unanimous (9 parent votes)
  • Secretary: Rebecca Maughan was designated as secretary

EOY and BOY data

  • Hillcrest has a lot to celebrate – Kindergarten at 96% at or above benchmark at EOY. Goal for the district is for grades to master high frequency words. Hillcrest is at the district average
  • The second language team has decided to teach high frequency words in their respective languages, we look forward to positive effects in AAPPL
  • Envision math will be used consistently across the school, more rigorous than Go Math
  • Katie requests data from previous years to be able to compare with this year’s data
  • Meghan asks why BOY is so different from EOY
  • Kym asks if there is data from other DLI schools to compare with Hillcrest

SIP Review

  • Amendment – Parent Teacher Connections
  • Request from Jill to amend the Budget in the SIP, moving $13,000 from Substitute/Contractors to Salaries, bringing the total for Salaries to $20,000, and the total for Subs to $9,000. Also to move $4,000 from library books to software and textbooks.
  • Tessa Burton motions to approve the amendment, Debbie Brough seconded the motion. 9 Parents voted unanimously to approve the amendment.

Other Discussion Items/Public Input

  • 5th grade requested funding for IXL subscription ($1,800). Discussion about pros and cons, and the SCC decided to not fund IXL.
  • Parent Teacher Connections will be Oct 16-19, sign ups begin on Oct 1
  • Frank Schofield requested feedback on a potential meeting Oct 5 for the community regarding a proposal to use half of the old Hillcrest Building
  • Meet the Masters is ready to go, Tessa will coordinate with Jill to figure out teacher schedules
  • Katie will contact the City about an additional crosswalk on the corner of 900 N in front of the school
  • Olivia asked if bus policies/ bus driver policies could be easier to locate on the district website
