5^th Grade Celebrations

The Spanish classes joined with the Portuguese classes in creating their own Preamble, Student-created laws and Bill of Rights under the supervision/direction of the teachers. They have a council that is voted on by students. They also are learning some life skills through a community economy system to help improve the number of kids going to Refocus. So far it has proven successful!

Review of November training (5 minutes)

Is the PTA President automatically on the Community Council or not? –Feels like they should be. Let upcoming presidents know.

Update of SIP and funds spent (10 minutes)

Teacher time to plan, scope and sequence 1-2 days in May with subs….so teachers can look ahead for what is to come because we will be using Envisions Math Books next year 2023-24

• Ipads for Kinder(30) and 1^st grade(30) **Jill will get more info on this for our February meeting

MOY testing (5 minutes)

Reading scores were available. Overall improvement in all grades…2nd grade staying about the same. Big celebration for LCSC coming up!

AAPPL testing (5 minutes)

Great benchmark percentages throughout 3-5^th grades. In 3rd grade there were 12 new students, 4^th __new students and 5^th grade had 8 new students…many of them had never had a new language and are at benchmark! Listening percentages were lower…does the dialect of the avatar used for testing make a difference?

School update (5 minutes)

DLI Coordinators will be at Hillcrest 01/26/23 to meet with Jill

Kinder registration is in April…hoping to have registrations done in February for those who are a sibling of current Hillcrest student. **Probably full-day kinder next year
