Minutes
- What about Bridger’s scores, can we look at the DLI classes from both schools for planning? It may change our focus, especially if we have fewer students who are learning English.
- Spencer will get data for Bridger’s DLI classes and provide it by Jan 31st, so we can review it before our next meeting
- We can consider inviting Bridger parents to help inform these decisions but the cannot vote.
- Another question to think about: Do we have data about the effectiveness of dance on math instruction as it is included in the current Hillcrest plan?
- Data to inform improvement plan:
- Looking at RISE Data (3rd 4th and 5th grades) Hillcrest is higher than the district and state in math and science, but lower in Language Arts.
- We have been using novels in class to teach Language arts, but the district is looking for a new program right now that would be a better fit.
- The interventionist will also be targeting LA when they start later this month.
- Adams had the highest data in the district, the district is looking at what they are doing inside their school that is making the difference. They came in as #4 elementary school in Cache Valley. Hillcrest was right behind Adams in Logan School District..
- While RISE data shows students with disabilities maintained or improved slightly, the ELL students lost from 2019 to 2021. Interestingly, the WIDA data shows that ELL students are improving. Not sure why that's not translating over to end of year data.
- Spencer will get data for Bridger's DLI classes and provide it by Jan 31st, so we can review it before our next meeting
- Public Input:
- How is the school faring on absenteeism with teachers and students due to COVID19?
- Spencer said about 9 staff are out each day, and they can get about 7 subs, so they are being creative by having paraprofessionals and specialists cover or paying teachers to take classes during their prep time. The district website noted one case at Hillcrest as of Monday, but Spencer said the number is closer to 7 as of yesterday. His goal is to avoid a 'test-to-stay' situation.
- At the next meeting we will continue reviewing data for the plan
- Spencer will get data for Bridger’s DLI classes and provide it by Jan 31st, so we can review it before our next meeting
Next Meeting: Friday, February 4, 2022 @ 7am
